Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) Member
The Andersons, Inc. is a proud member of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA). As the national trade association for the U.S. ethanol industry, the Renewable Fuels Association promotes policies, regulations and research and development initiatives that will lead to the increased production and use of fuel ethanol.
Organized in 1981, RFA serves as the voice of the ethanol industry, providing advocacy, authoritative analysis, and important industry data to its members, Congress, federal and state government agencies, strategic partners, the media and other opinion-leader audiences.
Ethanol Facts:
- In 2010, American ethanol production soared to 13 billion gallons eliminating the need of nearly 445 million barrels of imported oil
- Domestic ethanol production helps to support more than 400,000 local jobs
- Ethanol emits almost 29% fewer carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions than gasoline
- Ethanol rapidly biodegrades in surface water, groundwater and soil and is the safest component in gasoline today
- Ethanol production utilized the starch in 3.9 million bushels of corn in 2010 to produce over 33 million metric tons of high quality livestock feed, distillers grains and corn gluten feed
- One bushel of corn allows a modern dry mill ethanol refinery to produce approximately 2.8 gallons of ethanol and 17 pounds of highly valued feed co-products called distillers grains
